Can you imagine racing up to 11 of your friends in an open world, taking on challenges on the fly to a remixed version of The Who’s Baba O’Riley? In EA and Criterion Games’ Need For Speed Most Wanted the multiplayer will allow you to do just that. Well, you might have to play the music yourself but the thought of it sounds pretty incredible. Similar to Burnout Paradise’s multiplayer where you simply dropped into a world with your friends you’ll be able to pick a car from a selection of Sports, Exotic, Track and SUV and enjoy a nonstop playlist of competitive events. Another new feature for the Assassin’s Creed series has been announced by Ubisoft for the 3rd game. Players will be able to explore and navigate the open seas to command your own naval warship as well as taking on enemy warships in naval warfare. In the trailer after the break we see the player navigating their warship, using cannon and other weapons to take down enemy warships and boarding them to engage in close quarter combat. It all looks pretty impressive with the Anvil engine clearly working its magic here. Continue Reading
As the Assassin’s Creed series continues to grow with Ubisoft introducing new features with each entry the multiplayer element was the most recent major addition to the series. It’s in this Animus trailer that we see some insight into how we go about assassinating our friends in Assassin’s Creed 3. Continue Reading
This is the second interactive trailer/demo we’ve seen for a game this week following the release of Dishonored’s ‘Daring Escapes’ gameplay trailer on Thursday. These interactive trailers are awfully good at giving two or more perspectives on how to do missions in the games they’re showcasing. This time it’s the turn of EA who have released an extended video of the Crysis 3 demo shown at this year’s E3. You have the choice to take on the mission in either Stealth or Armour mode. The latest trailer, ‘Hard-boiled Gunplay’, to be released from Square Enix for their up and coming game Sleeping Dogs shows off the gunplay in the game from the cover system, Max Payne style slow motion, high speed shootouts and explosions. It’s looking visually impressive and lining up to be one of the surprise hits of this year, especially considering it’s an original and new IP coming from Square Enix and developers United Front Games.

Since my move to South Korea I’ve switched backed to console games due to the fact that all of the wonderful people I enjoy playing PC games with all live somewhere with at least a sixteen hour time difference. It makes it a little hard to coordinate playing games, not to mention trying to deal with server lag can sometimes be an absolute pain. Anyway, to make a long story short, we have a local video game vendor near where I am and I thought I’d peruse the selection. I’ve picked out several games that, while in the states, I have never heard of, but have definitely been enjoying. The first of these games is, Resonance of Fate. Continue Reading
Codemasters have released screenshots from racing sim F1 2012 originally shown at this year’s E3. The screenshots, although still a work in progress, look pretty good and it’s clear that Codemasters have been improving their Ego engine even more since last year. However, as with all games, it isn’t just about the graphics and we’re still waiting on Codemasters to release more information on the game which is due for release this September. Hopefully we’ll see something coming out of the pits in due course with the virtual racing set to start in less than 3 months.

Bethesda have released the walkthrough for ‘The Golden Cat’ mission in Dishonored which was shown off at this years E3. In the two videos after the break Co-Creative Directors Raphael Colantonio and Harvey Smith guide you through two different playthroughs. The first video shows off a stealthier appraoch to assasinating The Pendleton Brothers and the second shows off a more direct, action-orientated style of play. At the end of the second video you can also see the player take on the Tallboys in a fight in ‘The Flooded District’. Continue Reading
There was a time when video games were not taken so seriously, where you could pick up a PS2 game without knowing what it was and most of the time you could probably enjoy it, while playing Lollipop Chainsaw that is one of the things that I was reminded of constantly. While the game itself isn’t the most outstanding product that has been released in years the one thing that the game does perfectly is that it doesn’t’ try to be like any other game out there. Lollipop Chainsaw is a girly, sugar coated, zombie killing spree that is a campy joy ride to play through, most of the time you will enjoy it but besides the game’s atmosphere there are some problems that may break your immersion.
