Yesterday we went over some of the early releases for 2012 gaming year; Here are a few more.
STREET FIGHTER X TEKKEN
For those confused by the title, thats Street Fighter Cross Tekken, and judging by the game, this one is exactly what it sounds. Character rosters from both games put into one fighting game.Expected to hit shelves March 6th for the United States and March 9th for Europe, the game will feature characters from both the Street Fighter franchise and Namco’s Tekken series. As the game is being made by Capcom, the gameplay will be based on the 2D gameplay of Street Fighter as opposed to the Tekken series, and will feature projectile moves such as the Hadouken. Namco is currently producing their own take on the crossover, Tekken X Street Fighter, which will follow their own style of gameplay, but unfortunately has no definite release date, however we should still see it this year.
NINJA GAIDEN 3
Ninja Gaiden 3 is set to release March 20th for the United States and March 23rd for Europe. Ninja Gaiden 3will yet again feature Ryu Hayabusa as the main character. He is sent to London where he fights unidentified terrorists. Afterwards, he faces a mysterious hooded opponent who kills the Prime Minister.
The game will feature a few new mechanics and changes. The new Kunai Climb involves Ryu climbing onto certain walls with the use of his kunai, which he can use to attack enemies from above. In other situations the player will have to be stealthy, as Ryu can now sneak up on an enemy and kill him with a single strike. Enemies speak while fighting, saying phrases like “Get around him!” and “Send backup!”. Enemies do not die quickly, and they will suffer and scream in pain when injured. They are no longer decapitated or dismembered, instead they will just bleed and weaken, thus forcing players to be aware of their surroundings.
RESIDENT EVIL: OPERATION RACCOON CITY
Quite possibly my most anticipated game (next to Diablo III) for 2012, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is expected to hit shelves on March 20th for the United States and March 23rd for Europe.
The game takes place during the events of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, and is set in Raccoon City, whose residents have been turned into zombies after an outbreak of the t-virus. Players will take the role of an officer of the Umbrella Security Service and be tasked with destroying evidence of Umbrella’s illegal activities, including killing survivors of the outbreak. Operation Raccoon City will allow the player to make major “what-if” decisions such as killing Leon Kennedy.
DRAGON’S DOGMA
Recently mentioned by Kieffer, Dragon’s Dogma is set to release on March 27th for the United States and May 1st for Europe. Much like Skyrim, Dragon’s Dogma is an open world fantasy based game. Players will be able to select between various types of characters, of which nine have been revealed so far: Fighter, Warrior, Mystic Knight, Strider, Ranger, Assassin, Mage, Sorcerer and Magic Archer.
