As the Assassin’s Creed series continues to grow with Ubisoft introducing new features with each entry the multiplayer element was the most recent major addition to the series. It’s in this Animus trailer that we see some insight into how we go about assassinating our friends in Assassin’s Creed 3.
So, what does the Animus allow you to do in multiplayer? You can choose from a range of heroes to play as in maps set in various locations during the American revolution and places you’ll no doubt spend time in during the single player. There’s multiple game modes available including Domination, a 4 versus 4 team base mode involving taking and protecting areas on the map and Wolfpack, a 2 or 4 player team versus 8 AI with your team aiming to assassinate as many of the AI in as little time as possible. A friend/social hub will allow you to connect and challenge your friends to increase your skills in the competitive ranking system.
Check out the trailer below for more of an insight into the capabilities of Animus from Abstergo.

It will be interesting to see if Assassins Creed 3 will generate the same level of consistancy that has seen it become one of the most anticipated titles of the year, Particularly when considering the short amount of time between this and Revalations? Though I’m sure my concerns are unfounded (I hope).
Apparently this title has been in development for 4 years, long before the recent sequels to Assassin’s Creed 2 so it should be fairly well developed and from early footage it does look as though Ubisoft have a few tricks up their sleeve. At least they’ve been slowly listening to the community feedback!
Not sure how this will end the story though as it is rumoured there were only supposed to be 3 numbered titles as this was to only be a trilogy of games. That said, whether or not they’ll continue the story in the style of Brotherhood and Revelations releases remains to be seen.
