With the rise of pc gaming indie games have gone on a rampage because of the magical red carpet laid down by PC gaming and the internet opening the doors. Although with indie games being all the rage it’s almost impossible to really find a true gem unless it has sold millions of copies on steam. Luckily digital distributor GamersGate will be releasing a bundle this coming monday with some choice indie games that may have slipped under your radar for a price that is well worth your money, but it won’t be the average bundle full of indie games. The IndieFort Bundle is changing this time around and becoming The IndieFort Tournament. The fresh thing about The IndieFort Tournament is that all of the games in the bundle aren’t just there for your pleasure but they are also competing to become the king of the indies. Some of the games in the bundle include the following….
An online game based on a mod from Unreal Tournament 2004, in Air Buccaneers teamwork is the only thing that will keep you alive. Man the helm of a flying hot air balloon ship or fire the cannons, blasting down any Viking in your way!
A voxel based RPG FPS that shows that can take you on a space journey that you will never forget. An entire planet where everything is generated randomly, giving you a new experience every time. Don’t write this game as a Minecraft rip off because it is nothing of the sort.
You crash land onto a new planet with a couple of aliens accompany you as you go about a grand adventure to repair your space ship combining RPG and point and click elements in one game.
Survivors of Ragnarok
Survivors of Ragnarök is a city-building-management-survival game about chickens. Lead your company of dwarfs into high mountain passes, deep into dangerous forests, scorching deserts, and into the dark underbelly of the earth and back. Encounter Bizarre and dangerous creatures from dwarf-eating-tiger-snails, flying pigs, bishop-fishes, and Chickthulhu. Top 100 IndieDB Awards 2010
Keeping the RTS genre fresh Star Prospector takes you on a dynamic journey across the galaxy searching for the best resources to keep life thriving. Fend off space raiders and complete story centric missions that are unique to you.
Not your average Rogue like game, a top down view and a plethora of ways to lose track of time within dungeons and epic battles. How long can you stay alive? How many monsters will you slay?
Being a space trader has never felt better, for a menu based game this game is smooth as Awesome ore on planet 9 (No, sadly Awesome ore is not in this game.) Trade with other space vendors, fend off incoming space pirates and become the top space trader. In space!
Choose from one of the three classes to fight your way through hordes of enemies as you steal loot and discover dungeons. While it isn’t the most complex game that doesn’t stop it from being a great rogue like rpg.
The last of the Libra must avenge their homeworld in this space themed RTS. This game allows you to conquer space and create the greatest force in all of the galaxy.
Girl with a Heart of
Turn off the lights and remove yourself from reality as you follow the story of Raven who is caught in between the war of Dark and Light. The game is an “experimental interactive adventure” where painstaking decisions are made by the player and the story is effected greatly.
A Sirius Game
Going against the trend of saving the princess or stealing money from the rich and giving it to peasants A Sirius Game is all about being bad and not worrying about the goody two shoed rules. Sail your ship around the seas raiding merchant ships or discovering hidden treasures as you sail the sea as Sirius.
This list is far from exhaustive, there are plenty more! The bundle is going to be releasing this Monday on September 10 with multiple payment options. At the end of the run there will be a contest to see which of the games received the most likes on Facebook (if you are into that kind of thing) for The IndieFort Tournament and the top three that end up with the most votes will get their own special champion bundle.
