It’s hard to say whether or not one should respect the decision of Spike’s Video Game Awards with a ton of advertisements on upcoming games and celebrities get more attention than the actual deserving winners. Despite that though the VGA’s made some really good decisions this year that were almost unexpected. TellTale’s The Walking Dead took game of the year, best downloadable game and best adaptation home and they also won studio of the year. PS3’s Journey was nominated for the most categories and walked away with three awards including best original score, best PS3 game and best independent game which was a close match up against Dust: An Elysian Tale, Fez and Mark of the Ninja. Also Valve won one of the biggest awards given out for Half Life 2. Halo 4 took home 360 gold while XCOM won PC game of the year, although it was never actually mentioned in the show.
