UPDATE: It now seems obvious that the most likely story is that these teasers are alluding to Project Zwei, currently in development under Shinji Mikami, also known as the father of Resident Evil.
Well this is awfully exciting, isn’t it? Those of you following the correct people on Twitter will be well ahead of us here, as Bethesda have been sneaking out clues as to their next project. Here are the clues thus far:
The first clue came on Tuesday, the day after announcing that the team behind Skyrim was moving on: “Parts of our team have also been in pre-production on our next major project, and that game is at the point where it requires the studio’s full attention to make it our biggest and best work yet.” The clue itself was this video, posted on Vine and tweeted by @Bethblog.
The web has been full of conspiracy theories about barbed wire and, especially, a new Fallout title. This rumour has been quashed though by Pete Hine’s Twitter (@DCDeacon) who said “Guess again : – )”
Another weird video was posted just yesterday (Wednesday) of burning sunflowers, because, well, I suppose some men just want to watch the world burn.
Now, it gets really spooky [link to the last video below]. Again, tweeted by the official Bethesda Twitter, but this time with the line: “mystery revealed tomorrow @IGN.” Not sure why they posted it at IGN specifically, they obviously got their letters mixed up with “GTN”, but hey ho.
This one is a little creepier, with some weird jumpy spooky stuff. What could this be? Not sure, but VentureBeat have noted the franchises that have the Bethesda label on them:
- Doom
- Rage
- Brink
- Wet
- Prey
- Wolfenstein
It could even be a brand new IP altogether, but we’re not going to speculate any further with an announcement coming tomorrow. Any which way, it’s heating up. Look forward to Bethesda’s announcement tomorrow, potentially watch IGN‘s space for information.
