S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Is Held Up Again

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2  has been through it’s ups and downs since the announcement in 2010, tears have been cried, blood has been shed, developers have fallen, but today GSC Game World announced that they would stop working on the game to begin focusing on a F2P MMOFPS called Survarium. Don’t turn your back on the company yet though, it looks like the game is going to actually have some ties to the infinitely delayed sequel. Project Lead Ruslen Didenko says, “The concept of Survarium is a next evolution step for the idea of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. we’ve been working on for the last ten years, Survarium will go way further forcing mankind to fight for survival not only within the closed area of Chernobyl zone, but also far beyond.”  The concepts of the game have also been released:

Impassable woods advance onto cities from every side, maddened animals and birds attack industrial complexes, military structures, warehouses and power plants. Towns are cut off from each other, there are no water supplies, no electricity, gas, communication is lost. Countries collapse, anarchy spreads throughout the world. Now force dictates who to survive. In the meantime, new species of greenery and animals purposely destroy human civilization. Strange plants and mushrooms grow through concrete and steel. Scientists all over the world haplessly try to cope with the anomaly sprawling across the Earth with terrifying speed.

It sounds like it is going to be an interesting project but we will see if they can redeem the words “Free 2 Play”.

EA have released the first gameplay trailer for their FPS Crysis 3 which is due out in 2013 following the release of their teaser trailer on the 19th April 2012.  This trailer expands more on the teaser trailer which gave us a first glimpse of the weapons and Cell Corporation nanodome by giving us a little more background story behind what’s happened since Crysis 2.  The basis of the game looks to be round entering the nanodome to take back the city from both the aliens and Cell Corporation using an enhanced nanosuit and weapons, including a new composite bow.

Check out the official game website for more information on Crysis 3 here.

Bethesda Softworks release Prey 2 Update

Posted by AJ on April 19, 2012

Bethesda Softworks have released an update on the status of currently in-development game Prey 2 following rumours last month that it had been cancelled.  Here’s the word straight from the horse’s mouth:

Development of Prey 2 has not been cancelled but the game will not be released in 2012 as planned. The delay is due to the fact that game development has not progressed satisfactorily this past year, and the game does not currently meet our quality standards. Prey 2 has shown great promise and we regret disappointing our fans. We have made a substantial investment in game development to deliver the experience fans want. We are determined only to release the AAA game that fans rightfully expect, and are unwilling to compromise our quality standards to meet a release schedule.

It’s great news since the game was looking to be shaping up very nicely with its promise of an open world, free running esque missions and gorgeous visuals.  It’s nice to see the developer putting it back to make sure it’s up to their high standards.

See the original post on the Bethesda Softworks Blog here.

Resident Evil 6 Special Edition Will Cost $1,300

Posted by Kieffer Wilson on April 12, 2012
Posted in: Gaming, News. Tagged: Capcom, resident evil 6, special edition. 3 Comments

With all the hype building up for the upcoming releases this year Capcom decided that it was time to give fans what they really wanted out of a special edition and it’s only for a low low price of $1,300 dollars! What would cost $1,300 though? A full sized replica of a resident evil zombie? A life time supply of green herbs? No neither of those, what you get is a leather jacket and some phone cases. Yup, that’s right if you decide to buy the special edition of Resident Evil 6, which is only going to be sold in Japan, you get a replica of Leon’s jacket and four phone cases with the characters too. Don’t worry of course you will get the game, where else do you think the rest of your $1,100 dollars are going? It seems really overpriced if you ask me, comparing to the special editions of games like Skyrim or Uncharted where the price never went anywhere near hitting the four digits and they were nice special editions too! That jacket better stop bullets! Or save me from a zombie apocalypse!
