Rockstar Games have announced that the highly anticipated launch of Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) will be in Spring 2013 worldwide and on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
GTA V is being developed by series creator Rockstar North and takes place in a re-imagined, present-day South California. They are promising this to be the “largest and most thriving game-world” they have ever created which will be set in and around the city of Los Santos.
Starting from the 5th of November next week the game will become available for pre-order everywhere and they will be releasing more information later this month. Alongside the pre-orders select retailers, which haven’t yet been named, will be offering a double-sided poster whilst supplies last.
Rockstar Games have also released the artwork featured below with downloadable desktop versions coming very soon.
After the release of the statement about the expected release date for GTA V, Rockstar Games left a comment on their original article stating that there were plans to release a new trailer either by now or in the very near future. Hurricane Sandy has left their New York office without power meaning they haven’t been able to complete the new trailer. Here’s the full comment below:
We are working on a second trailer – unfortunately Hurricane Sandy has derailed our plans somewhat but we will have something to show soon. It’s hard to be precise as we have no power whatsoever in our New York office. We hope everyone else in affected areas is doing okay.
Whilst there is no mention of a PC version currently being developed I’m crossing my fingers that they will follow tradition as with their previous games and release an optimised PC version about 6 months later in Autumn 2013. We’ll no doubt have to wait until the release of the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 games until we get official word from Rockstar Games.
