16. Final Fantasy XIII-2 OST – A Broken Wonder
Despite the backlash that the Final Fantasy name has assumed within the past couple of years there are still things that Square Enix can still do completely right, one of them being the soundtrack. XIII-2’s soundtrack was one of my favorites of the year and had a wide variety of tracks that I really loved, and some I didn’t. This track really brings out a lot of emotion, in a way that other soundtracks, even outside of video games can’t.
15. Kid Icarus Uprising – Chapter 6 (Dark Pit) Flight Theme
If you own a 3DS and you love music Kid Icarus Uprising is probably one of the most exciting times you will have with a game! The game is filled to the brim with good music, so much that it was incredibly hard for me to choose a song that I liked the most. This song really stuck out in an exciting way, the way the guitar and synthesizer fight against each other really become more exciting as the song goes.
14. Persona 4 Arena – Reach Out To the Truth
Okay let’s be honest, Persona 4 is probably one of the best RPG’s that will be ever made, and the fighting game that came out last year captured everything about the game that made it great, especially the music. There are so many tunes in Persona 4 that I can’t stop myself from humming nonstop and this game just gives me an excuse to keep humming. Persona 4 Arena remixed the battle theme from Persona 4 that really kept your heart racing and adding in a guitar in the beginning and end make the battle in Mayonaka Arena feel even more intense
13. Far Cry 3 – Title Theme
Most of you had a great time with Far Cry 3 this year, blowing up enemy camps and setting tigers on camps to unleash total havoc. But one thing that I didn’t think was notable about Far Cry 3 was the soundtrack, until I heard this track. Reminiscent of a lot of rock that you could hear on the radio today…well….the good rock, this soundtrack really sticks out as something I can listen to hundreds of times and not get tired of.
Honorable Mention of the Day
Rhythm Heaven Fever – Remix 10
I wish I could add this game to my list of soundtracks, but the music sadly doesn’t really work on it’s own. I love this game to death, but the reason why it is so great is because the audio and the visual are perfect for each other.
Far Cry 3 is my GOTY. You’re right, though, the soundtrack isn’t anything special. I even turned the music off because I loved the immersion of the game, but that track (13) is sooo good.
